Video: Strange mystery creature spotted in Kansas divides wildlife experts

A photo of a mystery creature spotted by a Kansas resident has drawn divided opinions from wildlife experts. According to a local media report, the puzzling picture was snapped this past Saturday by a person in Shawnee Heights. The bewildered witness subsequently shared the photo online, indicating that a Google search concluded that the creature was a bear. However, the case was not quite so simple as the image eventually reached wildlife experts, who made the matter all the more mysterious when they were enlisted to identify the animal.

Tracey Henderson of the Topeka Zoo indicated that the odds of the curious critter being a bear were "almost zero." As for what it could be, Henderson mused, "I'm leaning more towards coyote." That said, while Matt Peek of the Kansas Wildlife and Parks department echoed his assessment that the animal is not a bear, he offered a differing opinion on its true nature. "This is a raccoon," he confidently declared, suggesting that the creature could be sick. In which camp do you fall? Are you Team Coyote or Team Raccoon? Let us know at the C2C Facebook page.
