Location: El Yunque, Puerto Rico

Date: February 19 1984 Time: 01:00 a.m.

On this night, a UFO allegedly crashed on a slope in one of the mountains of the National Caribbean Rain Forest, also known as el Yunque. According to many sources a flying saucer type craft did crash there that night, and the whole situation was covered up by the U.S. government. The craft and several alien corpses were allegedly taken to the U.S. by military personnel working out from Roosevelt Roads Naval Station, as well as intelligence/security personnel from several federal agencies in Puerto Rico. But some other anomalous events occurred around the same time in this sector.

According to a high-ranking officer with the U.S. military, when the UFO crashed in El Yunque, the area had already been under U.S. Military control since Friday 16. According to the officer, 15 soldiers, and 3 commissioned officers’ part of a special U.S. Army Special Forces Unit, were in the National Caribbean Rain Forest together with other units in a secret mission that he would not talk about. The officer explained that the units were stationed in an area next to “El Toro Mountain”. At about 1am a group of soldiers went down in a jeep to Palmer (a sector at the foothills of El Yunque) to get some cigarettes and other things at a gas station. When they arrived at the “La Coca” waterfall area, off Route 191, the men heard some strange noises in the brush which sounded like heavy footsteps on the dry foliage and branches on the forest’s ground. They stopped their jeep, got off it and checked the area in order to see who or what was there. They were concerned since no one was supposed to know they were in the area. When they stopped the Jeep’s, engine went dead and also the lights, and the radio. Their watches also wouldn’t work anymore, even quartz watches. They couldn’t understand what was happening. They attempted to communicate with the others in the ‘classified’ area, but the radio equipment was dead. The men then took positions around the waterfall area as they kept hearing the sound of heavy footsteps in the surrounding brush apparently approaching their location. It was as if someone or ‘something’ was coming towards them, but they couldn’t see who it was. They thought that maybe it was terrorists who wanted to attack the Federal Government installations including the those at Punta del Este peak where there is a powerful U.S. Navy radar installation and also in the summit of El Yunque where there are communications systems antennas which are used by the Puerto Rican police, the F.B.I and the FAA and other Federal agencies.

They were ordered to be on alert and take positions in the perimeter. Their commanding officer shot a flare and they had 100 % visibility, but they still couldn’t see whatever was approaching them. The footsteps and noises continued, and everyone was nervous. They shot another flare and ordered whoever it was to stop and identify himself and to come slowly out to where they were. But there was no answer. They repeated the order, but still no answer, nothing happened. At this point they received orders from their acting commanding officer to shoot if necessary. It, whatever it was, kept coming closer to them. At this point, the commanding officer ordered the men to shoot at will. One of the soldiers fired a round of shots in a cross-like fire with his automatic rifle, specially prepared for jungle combat, in the direction where the sounds were heard coming from. Some of the bullets seemed to have struck whatever was approaching. There were more shots and then more noises were heard coming from the jungle, and the sound of something running over the branches and leaves, apparently getting away from the area. Then everything stopped and a weird calm overtook the perimeter.

According to the officer, the soldiers were ordered to search the perimeter. They found nothing. Minutes later their watches, electronic equipment and the Jeep engine started working again and they contacted the others at the classified “training area”, reporting the event. After that, a series of important events unfolded. After reporting the incident, about half an hour later El Yunque was full of military personnel. They were everywhere and the area was declared off limits and under U.S. military control. At about 2am to 3am a lot of personnel from Roosevelt Roads Naval Station arrived and with them came an unknown group of men in U.S. Navy marked vehicles. They were all dressed in white one-piece anti-contamination suits with masks. Only their eyes could be seen, through glass visors. This type of clothing is used to prevent radiation or bacterial contamination. This group of personnel entered the carrying what appeared to be some sort of detectors. They performed an extensive search of the perimeter that extended towards the slope that descends towards the west from the antennas sector located in the summit of El Yunque and towards El Verde Mountain. According to this officer the personnel found a trail of a strange green luminescent liquid substance covering the ground and leaves, they followed this trail to an undisclosed location and supposedly found “something”. The officer implied that the green substance was some type of “blood” like substance belonging to the intruder that had been apparently shot.

The soldiers involved in the encounter were apparently placed on active duty and ordered to maintain their positions there. Everyone believed that there’d be some type of military action there, a “confrontation”. Later on, the soldiers involved in the incident were ordered to board a truck and were taken immediately to Roosevelt Roads Naval Station in Ceiba. Once there they were all submitted to psychological tests, a rigorous medical exam and an intense debriefing session related to the incident. Their weapons, equipment and all of their clothing were analyzed and then destroyed or burned. In the morning, they were all given new orders and classified instructions, and all were told that they should now continue with their ‘civilian’ lives as if nothing had ever happened and that they could never talk to anyone about it, ever, under no circumstances.

Mrs. Mariana Rivera, along with her sons, nephews and grandsons had come to visit the rain forest in a caravan of five vehicles and were traveling on the 191 Road, a fairly isolated road and had decided to take a side road to reach the summit but after about an hour they became tired and gave up, they then returned the same way they had driven up and when they reached an area called “la Coca” where the famous waterfall is located, suddenly all five-vehicle engines began to sputter and in a few moments all the vehicles had stalled. As the men looked under the hoods in an attempt to determine the cause of the problem, one of the witnesses felt an urge to look over to her left and saw standing in the woods a short thin figure that was staring with curiosity at all the commotion. The being suddenly noticed the startled witness and ran at exceedingly high speed into the woods quickly disappearing from sight. The being was described as four-foot tall, thin, and well proportioned. His head was slightly larger than normal, and egg shaped. It was hairless with large dark slanted eyes, a tiny nose, and a small lipless mouth. Its skin was gray green in color, and it had long dangling arms with long thin fingers. The being wore a tight-fitting one-piece white suit with an unknown blue design on the chest area. As soon as the being left the area, the vehicles were able to function again.
