Location: Vartsala, south-west Finland, August 1970.

When Jari Nyman was 10 years old, it was the end of the summer of 1970 and it was a nice August evening and the time was around 10:30. It was starting to get dark and Jari was cycling home from a friend. When he came to a hill he saw a flashing light on the dirt road just a few meters (5 - 6 feet) ahead of him. He thought it was strange and looked around to see if there was anything nearby that was causing the flickering light. That's when he saw a golden pyramid-shaped object in the sky.

Above the spruce and pine forest a couple of hundred meters (220 yards) away, Jari saw a large pyramid floating in the air above the treetops. The height of the object was about 40 – 50 meters (130 – 165 feet), and it hovered 25 – 30 meters (82 – 98 feet) above the ground. The boy could estimate the size of the object quite well based on the spruce trees below, as the height of the pyramid was about two full-grown spruce trees. The object was also dark gold in color and shone like jewelry in the evening sun, but not in a way that irritated the eyes, nor did it illuminate the surroundings.

The pyramid hovered only 3 - 4 meters (10 - 15 feet) above the spruce tops, and according to Jari it stood completely still in the same place for almost an hour. The object was at such an angle that you could see two sides of it and it then looked three-dimensional and in this way you could perceive the pyramid shape. At the end of the observation, a large square "door" opened at the top of one of the sides of the pyramid. The opening was bright yellow as the light streaming from inside lit it up. Shortly after, he could see the silhouettes of a couple of dark figures in the doorway. Then he saw how the creatures seemed to walk up a "staircase" or take some kind of elevator up. How this would have happened is not written in detail in the report. The figures were only visible for 15-20 seconds, then the door closed again. The golden pyramid was still hovering in the same place and not much more happened after that.

Jari now looked towards the road and then the road surface started to flash again and when he looked back at the pyramid a black hole had now formed where the doorway used to be. Suddenly a dark object flew towards him from the left. The boy did not know what it was or did not remember what it looked like, but he said it could have been an owl or a bat. He was now scared and he and the bike fell to the ground. Jari’s next memory is that he stood up and held the bike again, the road was no longer flashing and the golden pyramid in the sky was gone. He had no memory of picking up the bike.

When Jari got home, 3 hours had passed. He only thought he had been looking at the pyramid for less than an hour. In 1971,

Jari had witnessed more UFO-related events on several occasions later in his childhood. In 1976, he and his brothers saw a large yellow-orange glowing ball being chased by fighter jets across the night sky.

Jari also saw the pyramid again at almost the same place and this time more than 7 hours were lost (8:30 pm – 4:00 am). So it seemed like Jari Nyman experienced missing time. Was he abducted? He has no memory of that.
