Octahedron, dark metallic, 600-900ft away, followed parallel w vehicle at same speed, turned 90 degrees away, no lights or sounds.

Friend and I were driving on the east side of Porterville, not too far from the high school, approximately 8-9 pm. It was a clear, cool night, and I was seated in the passenger seat with the window down. We're traveling maybe 30-35 mph? I just looked outside to my right and within my peripheral vision, I noticed something. I looked up at the object and, in amazement, I pointed at the object and stated to the friend driving something to the effect of "look at that."

The object appeared as if the craft was following our vehicle. It was keeping the exact same speed as us and following parallel with us, approximately maybe 600-800 feet away, give or take 100ft or so. It was night and the object appeared like a dark charcoal-colored metallic object with no lights, so it was hard to give an exact distance. This object appeared maybe the size of a box truck? Again, hard to say the exact size and distance, as one can affect the other. The object also appeared to have markings/engraving/designed on the metal. I could see these markings due to the moon reflecting on the top right side of the object.

Anyway, I immediate exclaimed "look at that" and pointed at the object. Immediately after I pointed at the object, it made a 90 degree turn away from the vehicle while keeping the same speed. There was no stopping, or slowing down, an immediate 90 away. Also, the craft was completely silent, no sound emitted at all. This craft turned away from us and headed toward town, appearing to fly right over the middle of the city, appeared the same speed. After watching it 10-15 or so seconds I lost sight of it.

To summarize, octahedron/diamond shape, dark metal, appeared like design/markings (I could seen the moonlight reflecting off one of the 8 sides, top right), no lights, no sound, followed parallel with our vehicle at our speed, 90 degree turn away the second I pointed at it. I'd love someone to contact me for more information or take a serious report as what I saw was, I believe, extremely rare.

INVESTIGATION REPORT

Witness: Z

Interview date/time: 4-21-2025 at 1:35pm PST

On 4-21-2025, I interviewed Z regarding his octahedron sighting on 4-4-2025 at approximately 9pm PST. Z stated on that date, he was a passenger in a friend's car, and observed an aircraft in the shape of an octahedron. Z stated that his window was down when he saw the dark aircraft in the sky out of his peripheral vision. Z then stated that he looked towards the craft, and was able to see it pretty well because the sky was clear, and the moon was very bright that evening.

Z stated that the craft was approximately 600 to 800 feet away from him, and was approximately 60 to 70 feet in the air. He also stated that the craft appeared to be a dark charcoal metallic color and approximately the size of a UPS truck. Z then added that the craft was definitely metal and had no lights, cockpit, or windows, and made no sound. Z then stated that because the moon was so bright, he was able to see some type of writing on one of the top right panels. Z stated that the writing looked like some kind of ancient hieroglyphics.

Z stated that the craft appeared to be floating, but was also keeping up with the vehicle he was in. Z also stated that the craft was flying parallel to the vehicle, and the vehicle was going approximately 30-35 miles per hour. Z then stated that when he pointed the craft out to his friend, the craft made a 90 degree turn and flew away. Z stated that he felt as though the craft knew he saw it, and that's why it flew away. Z also stated that the craft didn't spin or rotate when it turned.

Z included some screenshots taken on Google Earth from several angles. Z tried to give the approximate location and distance. The screenshots are marked - red on the road to represent the car, and teal in the sky to represent the craft. This roughly represents the craft in relation to the vehicle. Z attempted to keep the car and craft somewhat in proportion to each other. Also, Z believe this is the road they were driving, or at least one nearby and similar.

Z stated that he is certain this was not a kite, balloon, airplane, etc.

Conclusion

Z stated that before this sighting, he wasn't familiar with an octahedron which has 8 faces,12 edges, and 6 vertices. The two of us agreed that this was a very unusual sighting especially because of the fact that the aircraft silently kept up with the vehicle he was in, and also made a 90 degree turn. Z did state that he would send me a drawing of the aircraft soon, but he wasn't sure he would be able to sketch the hieroglyphics he saw on the upper right panel of the aircraft. I checked FlightRadar24 and couldn't find anything. I am classifying this as an anomalous sighting.
