2.5 million Italians saw a UFO

Over 2 and a half million Italian adults who think they have seen a UFO, according to a survey that the Italian Center for Ufological Studies commissioned from Doxa.

4.5% of the adult citizen sample, asked by the demoscopic institute, answered yes to the question “Have you ever had the impression of seeing in the sky a UFO (or flying saucer) or something similar?”

The survey involved a sample of 1,000 people, representative of the population compared to the main variables (gender, age, geographical area, size of the municipality of residence), through direct home interviews with C.A.P.I. (Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing).

The initiative was wanted by the CISU (which had already done a similar Doxa survey in 1987) on the occasion of its forty years of activity.

The Italian Center for Ufological Studies was born in Turin in December 1985, and the survey was presented during the 40th National Conference of Ufology, which for the occasion returns to the city where the CISU has maintained its main headquarters and archives, among the largest in Europe on the subject.

The conference is held on Saturday 22 November at the Hotel Diplomatic (via Cernaia 42), starting at 14.30.

During the meeting, which brings together scientific scholars from all over Italy, the book on “The UFOs of the Italian Air Force” (the true story of how our military dealt with the Unidentified Flying Objects since 1950) will also be presented.

Finally, the new National Index of UFO sightings will be presented, with 43 thousand reports from 1947 to today, which will be made available to the public on the association’s website, www.cisu.org
