Pesticide levels drop 60 percent after just six days on an organic diet
When it comes to healthy eating, the term “organic” can sometimes feel like just another label - but research shows it’s a whole lot more than that. In fact, your body can start feeling the benefits of eating organic in less than a week.
A study by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) and Friends of the Earth (FOE) (Hyland et al., Environmental Research, 171:568-575) found that when people switched from a conventional diet to a fully organic one, their pesticide levels dropped by an average of 60% in just six days.
That’s right - less than a week after eating organic, their bodies were already showing clear signs of reduced chemical exposure.
Why does this matter?
Conventional fruit and vegetables are sprayed with pesticides and are designed to protect crops during transport and storage - not necessarily to protect your health.
These chemicals can build up in the body over time, creating an unnecessary burden for your liver, gut, and immune system to process.
When you eat organic, you’re helping your body focus on what it does best: absorbing nutrients, not fighting off toxins.
