Video: Mysterious fireball spotted falling from sky in New York's Hudson Valley

Residents of New York's Hudson Valley region were left scratching their heads at the sight of a mysterious fireball seen falling from the sky. According to a local media report, the odd incident occurred on Tuesday evening, with witnesses in multiple communities capturing the curious scene with their cell phones. As one might imagine, the fiery falling object sparked fear in many witnesses who were uncertain as to what they were seeing.

"The fact that it was coming down at a rapid rate really freaked me out," Westbrookville resident Kelli Burns recalled, "because it was close to where we were." Her concern was echoed by witness Jacqueline Duggin of Middletown, who mused, "it looks like a fireball. Should I be nervous? I don't know." Fortunately, it would appear that the unidentified falling object did not pose a threat, as there have been no reports of damage caused by an impact from whatever created the mysterious fireball.

To that end, the nature of the object remains uncertain as local officials in several counties said they could not identify the source of the fireball, despite the oddity being filmed and photographed by multiple witnesses. The possibility that the fireball was a meteor was dismissed by experts who noted that the speed and trajectory seemingly eliminated that explanation. As of now, the most prevalent theory is that the UFO could have been space junk burning up as it reentered the atmosphere.
