Migraine and your life: a guide to your daily well-being

Migraines can be unpredictable and overwhelming, making it hard to commit to plans or handle too much at once. If you feel your migraines are impacting how you live your life, you’re not alone.

Fortunately, there are ways to reduce how often they strike and how intense they get. Here are simple lifestyle changes I recommend to my patients:

  1. Get consistent sleep: Irregular sleep patterns can increase migraines
  2. Exercise regularly: Regular exercise reduces migraines. However, avoid intense workouts, which can increase the risk.
  3. Manage stress: Try breathing exercises or meditation to relieve stress.
  4. Reduce screen time: Take breaks from computers, phones, and other devices.
  5. Keep a migraine diary: Migraine triggers vary by person, but keeping a log can help you identify, track,  and avoid them.
  6. Avoid overstimulating environments: They may cause sensory overload, such as flashing lights, loud sounds, and strong scents.
  7. Monitor the weather: Stay up to date with weather changes, such as humidity, as that can trigger migraines.
  8. Try supplements: Certain supplements, such as Riboflavin and CoQ10, can help reduce the frequency and severity of attacks.

Finding the right migraine treatment isn’t always easy, but with a little patience and consistency,  relief is possible. The more you understand what works for you, the more confident and in control you’ll feel in your everyday life.
