An informed official has warned the United States against any provocative action in the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that any such act will be met with an immediate and decisive response.

The source, speaking to Press TV on condition of anonymity, said stressed that traffic in the strategic Strait of Hormuz is being conducted strictly in accordance with Iran’s arrangements.

The warning comes amid tensions following reports that several vessels transiting the strait without complying with Iran's designated navigation procedures have been struck in recent days.

Iran has maintained restrictions on navigation in the Strait of Hormuz since February 28, when the US and Israel launched their military aggression against the country.

The war expanded to include attacks originating from Persian Gulf states hosting US military forces, prompting Tehran to tighten control over maritime traffic in the strategic chokepoint.

On July 17, Iran and the US signed the Pakistan-brokered MoU, which calls for a permanent end to hostilities across all fronts and includes a commitment from both sides to hold further talks on a final agreement in the next 60 days.

Under the 14-point deal, Iran is required to ensure toll-free passage for commercial vessels for at least 60 days, with full restoration of traffic in the Strait of Hormuz within 30 days.

Iran has stressed that the strait will not return to pre-war conditions, emphasizing its legitimate right to sovereignty over the waterway.

Iran has repeatedly stated that all oil tankers and commercial vessels seeking to transit the strait must follow routes designated by Iranian authorities, warning that any unauthorized passage.

Last week, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi underscored Tehran's position, saying the Strait of Hormuz "is under Iran's command, not the US Central Command (CENTCOM)."

His remarks came a day after US Central Command hosted a "security dialogue" in Bahrain with military officials from 12 countries to discuss maritime security and the flow of commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
