Medical Doctor and Cuban naval captain, Dr. M.T. Alvarez was driving back to La Habana on the Guines Road when suddenly the vehicle headlights illuminated something on the road. It was a figure lying still right on the center of the road. The captain’s chauffer stopped the vehicle and Captain Alvarez stepped out. He cautiously approached the figure, and took out his service revolver just in case. At first, he thought it was the body of a child, since it was very small, no more than 3ft in height. Captain Alvarez then wondered what a child would be doing in the middle of the road at this time of night in such an isolated area. As he got nearer to the figure, he stopped, realizing that what he was looking at was not a child. It was an adult man-like figure with an enormous head, and long dangling arms that reached below the knees. The strange figure appeared to be deceased.

At this point, Captain Alvarez attempted to move the figure but could not, as it was very heavy, “almost like lead.” He called his chauffeur over for help, but both of them still could not move the figure. The figure remained immobile on the asphalt, according to Alvarez it was wearing some kind of diver’s suit, very tight-fitting to the body, and it had only four fingers in each hand. Both men then decided to go back inside the vehicle and drive away from the area. The next day, Captain Alvarez returned to the location, accompanied by a group of armed soldiers, but the strange figure had disappeared. They searched around the area and nearby they found a scorched area on the ground. It was a large circle, about 2m in diameter, the grass also appeared to be flattened.
